Since our family has settled down in Tamil Nadu, we add Tamil New Year, also to our tradition of celebration.

Generally Tamil Puthaandu  falls on 14 April.

This is the month of Chithirai, the first month of the Tamil solar calendar.

* On the 13th April eve, in the Pooja room, a tray arranged with a mirror, and 5 different kinds of  fruits, betel leaves and arecanut,(Viludalai- Adikai)  gold/silver jewellery, coins/money, flowers in front of the mirror.

* 2 oil Lamps with bathi is kept ready.

* Next day morning, the lady of the house wakes up, views the fruits through the mirror and lits the lamps. Then all at home are made to view upon waking in the morning.

* Then the day is celebrated with festive food, temple visit and having happy family time.
